THE COURSE-
The 2010 Preakness
® 5K will start and finish at historic Plimlico Race Course. The course will run the first mile on the same dirt track the horses use on Preakness Day (Note that the track will be specially packed for human racing on that day.) After visiting the quaint neighborhoods of Mt. Washington, the race will finish in the Infield where the Preakness Day Celebration will be held one week later on May 15th.

The 2010 Preakness 5K will feature many horse-themed activities that will help to kick off the Preakness Week activities.
10am Race Start
The race will start with the famous Pimlico Bugle Call To Post
Race Bibs designed to look like racing silks worn by jockeys
Preakness Day Prizes and Awards- The Top Male & Female finisher will get two Turfside Terrace for the 2010 Preakness (valued at $275 each)
Each runner will receive a 10% discount on any regular infield admission ticket to the Preakness Stakes Infieldfest featuring O.A.R. and Zac Brown Band the following Saturday. (discount code provided with your online race registration and valid through 5/5/2010.)

THE AMENTIES- Each runner will have access to the following:
- Each registered runner will receive a stadium blanket emblazoned with the event logo. The blankets will be prefect for enjoying the infield at the Preakness, sitting in the stands for your next Oriole or Ravens game, watching the kids soccer game or warming up after your next early morning training run.
- The blankets will be distributed after finishing the race only. This policy will allow us to speed the distribution process and conduct race day packet pick up.
- On the course, runners will be serviced by a water and Powerade stop complete with energy bars, fruit and other snacks.
- Following the race, runners will have access to post race snacks, bottled water, one complementary beer and live music.
- Free & Ample Parking on race day located in the Sinai Hospital overflow/employee parking lot. (view the Runners Packet to see a detailed map)
TIMING- The event will be chip timed and run on a USATF certified 5K course.
PACKET PICK UP- Runners may pick up their timing chip and bib number on Thursday, May 6 (4-7p) and Friday, May 7 (10a-6p) at Falls Road Running Store. We encourage as many runners as possible to pick up their chips and bibs early. In addition we will have packet pick up on race day from 8am to 9am. DO NOT BE LATE as we will not be able to extend this timeline. YOU CAN REGISTER AT PACKET PICK UP OR ON RACE DAY BUT THERE WILL BE A $15 LATE CHARGE TO DO SO. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND SIGN UP EARLY!!!!
AWARDS- Horse-Themed Ribbons will be awarded to the Top 3 Male & Female Overall Champions as well as to the Top Male & Female Masters Champion. Age Group awards will be issued to the top finisher in each of the following age groups: 14 & U, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59 and 60+. There is no duplication of prizes.
