THE COURSE-
The 2011 Preakness
® 5K will start and finish at historic Plimlico Race Course. The course will run the first mile on the same dirt track the horses use on Preakness Day (Note that the track will be specially packed for human racing on that day.) and venture around the grounds at the Pimlico Race Track including past the thoroughbred horse stables.

The 2011 Preakness 5K will feature many horse-themed activities that will help to kick off the Preakness Week activities.
10:30am Race Start
The race will start with the famous Pimlico Bugle Call To Post
Race Bibs designed to look like racing silks worn by jockeys
Complementary Beer for each finisher to jump start your Preakness week celebration
The Preakness Special Black-Eyed Susan drinks for Sale!
THE AMENTIES- Each runner will have access to the following:
- Each registered runner will have the option of an event technical tee (VIEW IMAGE) or a stadium blanket (VIEW IMAGE) emblazoned with the event logo. Runners who register late may only be offered the blanket.
- The premium items will be distributed after finishing the race only. This policy will allow us to speed the distribution process and conduct race day packet pick up.
- the top male & female winners in the 5k to get (2) premium seating tickets to the Turfside Terrace (valued at $300 each) for the 2011 Preakness, and each runner can also receive a 10% discount on any regular infield admission ticket to the Preakness Stakes Infieldfest. (discount code provided with online race registration and valid through 5/11/2011.)
- On the course, runners will be serviced by a water stop with water and snacks.
- Following the race, runners will have access to post race snacks, water, one complementary beer and live music.
- Free & Ample Parking on race day located in the Maple Ave. Parking Lot (see map below)
TIMING- The event will be chip timed and run on a USATF certified 5K course.
PACKET PICK UP-
We encourage as many runners as possible to pick up their chips and bibs early. In addition we will have packet pick up on race day from 8:30am to 10am. DO NOT BE LATE as we will not be able to extend this timeline. YOU CAN REGISTER AT PACKET PICK UP OR ON RACE DAY BUT THERE WILL BE A $15 LATE CHARGE TO DO SO. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND SIGN UP EARLY!!!! Late Registrants will receive the blanket premium.
BIB & CHIP PICK UP LOCATIONS
Premiums distributed after the race
AWARDS- Horse-Themed Ribbons will be awarded to the Top 3 Male & Female Overall Champions as well as to the Top Male & Female Masters Champion. Age Group awards will be issued to the top finisher in each of the following age groups: 14 & U, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59 and 60+. There is no duplication of prizes.
